Halong Bay in early Jan ?

I%26#39;d hate to find out it was an awful time to go there..

I%26#39;ve been to Krabi in South Thailand ( SPECTACULAR)

and was recommended to go to Halong Bay in Viet Nam.

Does anyone know if it is ok to go there in early Jan?

Yes Krabi is spectacular and Halong Bay is quite spectacular also. We were there late December and the evenings were quite cool but the days sunny and fine. Unfortunately too cold for swimming.

thanks a lot, I%26#39;m looking forward to viewing your photos. ANy idea of the BEST TIme to go to Halong Bay area.. .. would you know if it is EVER as warm as Krabi for swimming?

March and April are much warmer and probably the best months for Halong Bay.

If you leave it much later than that though you move into possible stormy weather.

We were there in January 2008 and it was magical. Really cold and foggy, but the fog made it beautiful and kind of surreal. Some brave souls even went swimming!
