Massage in HCMC

Hi i want to ask about the massage parlours in HCMC.How is the standard n is it safe?R the services goodn r they professional in terms of payments etc.?What r the best massage parlours in HCMC?

Massage in HCMC

Hi , I just returned fr trip there. There are lots of massage places in HCMC. Quality and price varies widely like in Shanghai.I went to 2 diff places - Massage Ngoc Anh at first floor Riverside Hotel which is close to Renaissance Hotel. The price for 60min foot massage - shiatsu = was abt US$8 for basic price and then tips extra US$8 - so abt US$16 in all. I found it was pretty good and price

reasonable.

The other place I went was 8th Floor of Windsor Plaza Hotel- body massage for US$20 for 60mins

Most of the hotels would have or recommend places for massages so you could check it out with them

hope you have a great time!

%26gt;then tips extra US$8 -

Thats realy way to mutch, you spoil the market when you give tips that high.

It is not excessive - if you compare with the prices of other similar places. It is just how they structure payment. Some places quote the total price including tip and the going rate around that area would be US$25 to $30 minimum, more in some. I know cos I walked around several places and shopped around.

Note that the basic price is US$8 is only a facility fee and with a ';tip'; of US$8 the total price is only US$16 for 60mins. So it is very reasonable - just look at the total cost rather than tip ;cos it is actually payment for service rendered. Maybe they should re-evaluate the way they structure the charge.

GHELLC,

Yes, you%26#39;re correct, masseurs in VN only earn their livings via tips. If you don%26#39;t tip, they will not earn a dime from the service :(

Still not much recomendations on the best massage centres in Saigon.Hope there r more feedbacks,Thanks.

I agree with the other poster, that an $8 tip is excessive. Same as in Thailand where tourists pay maybe $4 for a massage and then tip $3 or $4. You arent finding the local Thai people tipping that much. They are tipping 50 cents to a dollar for a $4 massage. Its the overly generous tourists that are ruining for the rest of us and for those farangs that are living there. Does it even make sense to tip 100% on any service?

Yes its ok to tip but it has to be reasonable so as not to overtip n spoil it for the rest.though of cos its individual ..............still if tip at 100 percent it is quite ridiculous

It is a matter of phrasing and mentality = would it would be more acceptable to go be told that the flat rate is US$16 ? And then feel happier when compared with other places which charge US$25 or more ?

I personally would not be too bothered by terminology but rather by what is a reasonable overall price and paying for services rendered. In order to know that - one should be familiar with the prices that are charged to other travellers for similar services in same area.

It is my experience that it is often not easy to get to pay local prices when travelling to many parts of Asia (except maybe for the very developed and expensive coutries like Japan) - unless it is a fixed price shop like supermarket or I am brought by local.

Here%26#39;s my feedback on cheapest massage prices :

1) Bangkok (400Baht for 2 hours of Thai Massage)

2) Bali (USD$7.80 for 1.5 hours of Full body Aromatherapy)

3) HCMC (USD$10 for 1 hour of Massage)

4) Malaysia (RM$76 for 1 hour of Thai Massage)

5) Singapore (SGD$58 for 1 hour of Thai Massage)

6) Siem Reap (USD$6 for 1 hour of Khmer Massage)

Tipping is upto the customer. Whether tip 100% or just 20% is upto the person. I never give any tips so far in Bangkok bcos the massage service is either ';not fully 1 hour'; or ';without full mastery';.

But I tip the masseurs in Bali%26#39;s Bali Spa Centre located in Tuban, bcos their standard of massage and service is above excellence.
