English Measles in Hanoi

Hi there - just letting everyone know that New Zealand has had 2 families return recently from Vietnam with measles. Although in our country this is not a deadly thing usually, it did make for a very sick child while we were still in Vietnam. We think it was picked up in Hanoi as it takes 8-10 days to incubate. Don%26#39;t be put off tho as vaccinated children seem to be effectively covered. Take care travellers.

English Measles in Hanoi

Yes, I read recently that there was an outbreak of measles in Hanoi. Our little boy is getting his 4 year old shots before we go to get him up to date. He is not due for them yet, but Dr advises its best to cover him. It%26#39;s not usually deadly in Australia either, but there can be complications occaissionaly, so better safe than sorry.

Awful to be travelling with a sick child isn%26#39;t it? A lot more frightening than at home. Hope he/she is feeling better.
