kindly suggest ways to get to HCMC from Hanoi or vice versa? im on a tight cost + period of time (5 days in Vietnam).

I can travel as easy tour %26amp; budget fare as below

Day 1: Hanoi- Hue

The night time, around 18.30. you can take the open bus, available with hard seats and also sleeping berths or night train to leave to Hue, will take 11 hours

Day 2: Hue-Free time

Day 3: Hue city tour (option)or depart

Day 4: Hue- Hoi An

At 8.00 Take the open bus to Hoi An ( passing Da Nang city )around 4 hours driving

Day 4: Hoi An- Da Nang- Saigon

Spending over 1 hour to reach Da Nang airport,

I suppose that it is quite interesting for your scheduled time, experience.

what if i want to travel from hanoi to ho chi minh? flight? drive? train? which is most practical?

It is so poqular to flght from Hanoi to HCMC with Vietnam airlines or jetstar, many times but you should make a reservation in advance. Fares cost from 75-100$/single.

Due to your limited time, maybe you should not travel by train or bus, so wasted time.

if you are interested in visiting Hue imperial, firstly you can catch airplane to there ( fare around

50- 75 $), experience 1 or 2 days and then flight to HCM, enjoying Merkong, Cu chi tunnel tour for 1 day.

Should take plane by lowcost carrier ( jetstar) or Indochina, but I think Indochina will better cause Jetstar often delays

if you book advance, may get the promotion fare and not much expensive than travel by train
