WARNING #2- We had the same problem with Explorer Tours

Oh how I wish I%26#39;d seen the previous warning before booking with Explorer Tours. I actually thought I was booking through Jewel of the Bay directly.

Much like the previous warning writer, we booked on the JOTB and received confirmation for that boat. We booked less than one week before departure so assumed their confirmation was legit. When we arrived in Haalong Bay, we were put on another boat, called Classic Sail, which was significantly cheaper than the JOTB.

1. When we called Explorer Tours upon arrival to the Classic Sail we were told that Jewel of the Bay was not going out. (False statement #1)

2. When we called back to say that we saw the Jewel of the Bay in the dock with passengers boarding onto it we were then told that the boat was full and we were thus transferred to another. We said that we paid for the JOTB so were thus owed a refund of the difference in price of the two boats (as by this time the other passengers informed us what they paid for Classic Sail). We were then told our driver would have the refund with him when he picked us up the following day. (False statement #2)

3. The following day the driver said he did not have our refund, so we called Explorer Tours again and were told by the same agent that we were ';bad tourists'; for asking for our refund and for being disappointed with the service. He told us if we were so disappointed that we should just get out of the van and sit on the side of the highway for something better to come along.

We didnt bother taking time out of our trip to try and obtain a refund because it was pretty obvious by then we were dealing with a non-professional company.

Do NOT make the same mistake we did.

Sorry to hear. Just a quick correction: Jewel of the Bay owner is Buffalo Travel. However, the boat itself is not that great. It would be much better searching in advance and consider before booking with low standard tour companies as many of them will promise anything you could expect but never mind keeping the promises.
