hanoi's best

I will stay in hanoi for hardly two days...

from wednesday evening till friday afternoon

what are your suggestions:how to spend the time in hanoi?

from the travel guide i read:

old town - quarter sounds nice for a walk and that water puppet show (is it something you would recommend to see.and if yes, do i need to book the tickets in advance)

thinks i like to help you with the recommendations: nature, old towns, souvenir shopping, people watching while sitting in a cafe, traditional music, dance....

what could i squeeze in these two days and not to run around like crazy?

what would be the best way to get around?

I still don%26#39;t know where I will stay , but somewhere in a central area I suppose

and how about the rain?

is it rainy season now (I will be there next wk) and is it heavy rain? can I still walk around?

thank you for your input!!

Hi bixi

a)stay at old quarters where all the activities are as per your requirement

b)Enjoy water puppet show in the evening located around Hoa Kiem lake(book ticket upon arrival)

c)temple of literature

d)day tour to Halong Bay(Karst on sea)

e)day tour to Ninh Binh(Karst on river and Land

f)do not worry about rain, you can still walk around the 38 streets of old quarter

Kinda of a rush, but just nice to enjoy Hanoi for 2 days

Do not take ride on Thrishaw or cyclo or you will be ripped off, plenty of scam around.%26gt;%26gt;taxi,taking picture with fruit vendor, etc etc

Have a nice time at Hanoi.

Cheers

Do book the water puppet show as soon as you can becaue it sells out very quickly as we found.

The Museum of Ethnology is very interesting and in the grounds are several different kinds of ethnic village houses they have obtained from the original owners, dismantled and reassembled in the museum grounds.

The Old Quarter is interesing just to wander around, as is Hoan Kiem Lake (do visit the little temple on the island and see the giant turtle).

The Old Quarter is probably the most central place to stay and full of inexpensive but nice hotels and cafes.

do agree with YorkFoodie, with just 2 nights in Hanoi, you should spend it at the old quarter.. don%26#39;t worry about the rain, I think the weather is fine in this time of year..

thank you so much for the wonderful ideas and tips...

I think 2 dys will be too short to go for day trips..I will concentrate on hanoi this time.......

next time - the rest :)
