Advice please Halong Bay, hotel and attractions

Hi All,

We are a middle aged Australian couple and travelling to Vietnam in late June. We intend spending a few nights in Hanoi and would love an overnight stay on Halong Bay. Been looking at websites.

Has anyone used or know of Halong Travel and Annum Junk. They appear to have a promotion going with a good price. Are they reputable and is it safe to book through their website?

Also any recommendations for a mid priced decent hotel in a convenient location. Is it very hot at that time of year and would a hotel with pool be advisable?

Also we don%26#39;t know much about the main tourist attractions in Hanoi so any suggestions would be welcomed.

Cheers,

Lyn

Dear Lyn,

Welcome to our lovely country, you should not worry with Halong Travel, they had their own Annam junk, packaged tour is around 120 USD.

It%26#39;s correct, summer time is hot %26amp; you can enjoy an overnight on the junk, certainly swimming, kayaking.

Stay in Hanoi, only 4 or 5 star hotels offering swimming pool with high cost.

you can find some hotels such as: Hanoi paradise hotel, Viet Anh 1 hotel, Nam hai1, elegance hotel, sunshine hotel, classic hotel, Hong Ngoc 1 hotel, hoa binh palace hotel.

Do hope that you enjoy your vacation.

Advice please Halong Bay, hotel and attractions

Hi Lyn

I took my parents (mid-60s) to Halong Bay when they came to visit Vietnam last year. Booked the Jewel of the Bay junk with Bao Su Long (info@baosulong.com), for 2 days/1 nt. We had a really nice trip with comfortable cabins, sun deck, good meals, kayaking etc. If I remember rightly we paid around $140 each, so it%26#39;s not the cheapest option, but we felt it was good value given the quality and the BSL did offer us cheaper options.

There are plenty of other boats there so I can%26#39;t vouch for them, just that many of them looked a little dodgy and chatting to fellow tourists on the quayside it was clear a lot of them were less than happy with their experience!

As for Hanoi, don%26#39;t miss the Hanoi Hilton prison, Hoan Kiem lake, the Old Quarter, and the Temple of Literature. And save some time for shopping!
