We are visiting Vietnam in July and planning to travel by train from Ho Chi Minh up to Hanoi with few stopovers in between. Just wondering if it would be ok to get the train tickets, timetable, etc, once we get to Ho Chi Minh? What%26#39;s the train like? This will be our first time to Vietnam, thanks... Is there any website that we can have a look at regarding the railways system in Vietnam???

We did the reverse, Hanoi to Saigon mainly by train. We purchased our tickets along the way but booking a day or two in advance. That gave us flexabilty to extend somewhere if we liked it.
For all things trains, look up www.seat61.com It has schedules, fares etc and is a very useful site.
