My husband and I plan to do a similar trip in towards the end of March with Footsteps Travel...

can you give a more detailed account of your trip.We read of mud, landslides etc. in parts and were wondering if you experienced those. How hair raising are the roads and the driving conditions.

Are they as bad as they say!!Has anybody out there

travelled with Footsteps Travel and if so could they

recommend them. Thanks.

Do not too worry about the road condition as they are mostly good. However, the least interesting part is Tuan Giao/ Dien Bien/ Muong Lay so you may do the short cut through the old N.6 road directly from Tuan Giao to Muong Lay. The road is not good but the scenery is awesome. Also, there are always great chance meeting the local villagers on the way. You won%26#39;t see anyone on the route and yes, it is a real adventure. Another great place is going cross the Black river from Son La to Than Uyen and on to Lai Chau (the former name is Phong Tho/ Tam Duong). This is a shorter route, but you see only the nicest part of the mountains and, of course, the people. Read a little further and do it in slightly different way for a better experience.
