can anyone advise of a car hire company in hoi an so i can drive myself from hoi an to hue and leave the car in hue? has anyone done this out there? if not any suggestions for recent transportation for 4 people like a minivan?

It is not legal or possible and certainly not advisable for non-Vietnamese licence holders to drive in Viet Nam. If you saw the traffic you%26#39;d see why it%26#39;s a really bad idea, especially on that road.

Most hotels and local travel agents can organise a vehicle and driver for you.

Yes the roads in VN are like nothing you have ever seen - approach with caution. I would recommend hiring a car or minivan.

It is illegal to drive in Vietnam if you don not have a Vietnamese Driving License. And from Hoian to Hue, you have to drive on High Way 1 where the local bus / truck drivers fight for the Grand Prix - ';Formula One World Championship';.

So my advise is NOT TO DRIVE in Vietnam when you are on your holiday.
