We are travelling in August %26amp; want to do Halong Bay in a day trip. We dont want to be part of a big tour, has anyone taken part in a small day tour? Any idea of prices %26amp; can we book in advance?

We were in Vietnam for a month oct/06. i am an avid kayaker and did a trip with Hanspan. GREAT TIME! They only do small groups. You pay a bit more but the info was priceless. We got to change our itinerary to what we wanted. there were 4 of us. We did a 3 day kayaking tour. They have a private beach in the national park. Far away from the touristy junk boats. Not sure if they do day trips. We also did a Mai Cho (sp) 3 day homestay. It was great as well 5 of us. Got to harvest rice with the locals laughing in the background. I would definitely travel with handspan again. Very accomodating. Any other ?%26#39;s pls feel free to ask.

We went to Vietnam October last year and did Halong Bay day trip from Hanoi. Did with Tonkin just us three in air cond mini van. And had junk to ourselves and wonderful lunch with prawns and crab incuded. Long day but as we had limited time it was great

The aussie owned Kangaroo Cafe in Ha Noi does private day tours for small groups - very reasonably priced. Also very good at tailoring tours to meet your needs.

As a fellow Aussie, happy to fly the flag for them!

I am also interested in the details for this one. I%26#39;d like to do Halong Bay but do not want to stay overnight. Any other ideas for a day trip...??

4D3N Hanoi-Halong-Hanoi

Day 01: Hanoi arrival (D)

Arrive in Noi Bai International Airport. Pick up and transfer to Hanoi, Check in hotel. Dinner and O/N in Hanoi.

Day 02: Hanoi - Halong (B, L, D)

Breakfast and then take a city tour with Ho Chi Minh%26#39;s Mausoleum (which is close on every Monday %26amp; Friday), Presidential Palace, Stilt house, One-pillar pagoda, Temple of Literature - the first national colleague of Vietnam. Lunch and then departure to Halong. Check in hotel. Dinner and visit the local market at the seaside. O/N in Halong.

Day 03: Halong - Hanoi (B, L, D)

Breakfast and then cruise by private boat to visit Ha Long Bay - the world heritage site. The cruise shall last for 4 hours with Thien Cung grotto, Dau Go cave and enjoy the beauty of nature of Halong Bay. Lunch on boat with seafood. Come back Hanoi in the afternoon. Visit Ngoc Son temple. Dinner at the local restaurant and then attend the Vietnamese traditional water puppet show. O/N in Hanoi.

Day 04: Hanoi departure (B)

Breakfast and then transfer to Noi Bai airport for departure. End of the tour.
