Junks

HI,

There are 8 of us wishing to go on a Junk overnight in Halong Bay in mid March. I have emailed many travel agents in Hanoi and am amazed at the price per person. I have read the forums for the Junk travel and many have advised that you will pay for what you get and to be careful of the cheapies. However, we dont want to pay a fortune. Can anyone advise which junk they went on and for what price. Also where is the best place in Hanoi to book? I thought that we would obtain a good discount with 8 of us but by dealings by email have resulted in not many great discounts. Any advice please

Thank you very much.

Do you have an email address for the actual travel agency/junk company so I can find out more?

Also do you go on the junk and how were the meals?

Cheers

We went on the %26#39;Pinta Junk%26#39; @ $97usd per person through Colombus Tours in Hanoi.

I highly recommend it!!

Enjoy,

C.

We are paying $163US per person for the Red Dragon cruise 1night/2days all booked through Hanoi Elegance 2 without any problems.

Cheers,

Izzy

We were on the Pinta for New Years Eve. (See my Hanoi trip report). We had a great time. The food was great, it was very clean and we had a great guide who organised a party for us for NYE. I think we paid about $210 each for the 3D/2N . That included kayaking.

Hi all,

I have heard very good things about Pinta and Red Dragon junk.

Anyone may help to give me officially website of these junks.

Thanks

Hi RailsAustralian,

The website for the Pinta junk is www.columbuscruise.com. Enjoy your trip. I%26#39;m planning a Halong Bay cruise on the Pinta junk this June so if you decide on the Pinta junk, please let me know if it lives up to your expectation.

Hi, We did the Red Dragon cruise 3d/2n to Bai Tu Long bay. It is exactly like halong but without the crowds. The only other boats we saw were the locals.

The junk was fantastic, new, opulent. The cabins are big.

10 Course dinners on deck under the stars, free kayaking, 7 course BBQ under a pavilion on your own private beach, caves with no crowds, visits to fishing villages to visit their schools etc.

The Red Dragon only takes 10 max so it is very intimate and luxurious.

You can charter the whole boat for a group of 8 for $345p/p for the 3days or $202 for the 2day. I strongly recommend the 3day for the full experience. Yes this is a bit of money but imagine this whole luxurious boat just for your group. You will save heaps throughout the rest of Vietnam... lash out a little for this. The experience and memories will be with you forever.

Their website is www.reddragon.com

I have written a repor on Bai Tu Long bay under Halong and posted some photos - they should be up in a couple of days.

Good luck with your planning

I鈥檓 also planning a Halong Bay cruise with overnight stay at the beginning of May. We will be on rather midrange budget, but it will be a first long trip with my girlfriend, so I want to make a surprise and have a little bit of luxury for us during the stay in Vietnam.

I%26#39;m wandering wonder if doing private Nina junk is a good option?

Columbus cruise quoted me 167 US$ per person.
