Just Back Report- Hanoi/Halong

Hi all, sitting in KLIA -LCCT Premium Lounge with 6+ hrs to kill so I will do a brief JBR:-

TRANSPORT:

Flew Air Asia Perth to Hanoi via KL. Aircraft and in flight service were good. Seat pitch acceptable for the price. Down side is their ever changing schedules which necessitated an unplanned overnite stay in KL. Stayed at Jawadene B%26amp;B, 15 mins from LCCT. Walter will pick you up.Nice home %26amp; pool in boring suburb but conveniant for early morning departures.

Air Asia flights from KL to Hanoi %26amp; Hanoi to KL good. The LCCT in KL is a nightmare at the moment with a lot of construction going on. If you are having to spend a few hours there it is worth while to book into the Premium Lounge.50RM if you book on plane, 80RM if you just walk in.

HANOI:

Touring- Met up with Hanoi Kids. Lovely Uni students who want to practise their English %26amp; will show you Hanoi for Free. We paid for taxis %26amp; their lunch

Motor Bike Touring. Driver will take you around for 3+ hours for $15. Some great war museums in Hanoi if you are into Aircraft. The Air Force Museum is fab.

Hotels- Stayed in Old Quarter. 2 nights at Gia Thinh $45US per night %26amp; Hoan Kiem Lake Hotel $20US. Both clean %26amp; in the centre of things. Lake Hotel does not have an elevator %26amp; breakfast is not included.

HALONG BAY:

Used Bai Tu Long Co Ltd, Boat 00999. Booked 1 night on Junk %26amp; 1 nite at HolidayView Hotel on Cat Ba Island.( $350US for 2 incl hotel ) Very happy with Junk. Food was great, Layout was really nice %26amp; only 9 Passengers. Great scenery!!!I dont recommend the night at Cat Ba, Its pretty boring( only my opinion )

Off to Phuket in 3 hours. Will do Phuket JBR if I ever get of the beach!

Thanks Jingle Bells, we are from QLD and about to do similar - we are flying Air Asia and then connecting to HCMC and working our way up to Hanoi and then Air Asia back to KL and on to Langkawi leaving in a week and a bit! Thanks for the warning about the airport - that wasn%26#39;t going on when we were there a year ago. Is that fee for the premium lounge per person? Where are you staying in Phuket? We were there around this time last year!

HALONG JUNKS; If your partner does not get turned on by fab scenery, great food %26amp; lovely people, my un married 53 year old sister would love come with you.

PHUKET: staying at Patong Bay Garden Resort. 2nd time $200AUD per nite!! = 10 nites in Hanoi!!!
