Chau Doc - Phnom Penh By Hang Chau Speed Boat 24 USD / 1 Pax
We did the speed from PP to CHAU DOC not quite what we expected. A small 16 seat boat with a cover over the top That leaked when it rained. Be prepared to scramble up the river bank at one of the border crossings.
It was an experience that went into the book of life.
Chau Doc - Phnom Penh By Hang Chau Speed Boat 24 USD / 1 Pax
Dear KEVLOVESJULES,
Thank you for your sharing the information
Could you please inform me and other guests which express boat company you took from PP to Chau Doc ? Was It the Hang Chau express ?
Thanks
Jason
Sorry I dont know what company it was. It was arranged by an agent and we did have an escort on the boat which did make it a little easier when we reached Chau Doc as he was able to put us on our next mode of transport with out any hassle. Not many people speak English in this area.
Hi Jason,
Thank you very much for your efforts to share updated info with fellow travellers. This was the information I was desparately looking for and now found. Is that 8 o%26#39;clock departure the only one a day?
Would you be able to recommend a nice place (budget/midrange) to stay in Chau Doc and Phnom Penh?
Thank you again.
Just found a photo it was Hang Chau Tourist

Dear Jason,
Thank you soooooo much for your hotel recommendations. When we go there I%26#39;ll say hello from you.
One more question if you dont mind. I have read about the fairly unknown bird sanctuary along the River. Do you have any advice how to get there, where to book a boat or tour etc.?
Have a good day. Saija
Dear Saija,
If you want to make your dream come true, you will hire car, or motorbike, taxi from Can Tho city to visit Bang Lang Stork Garden in Thot Not.
Or on the way from Can Tho to Chau Doc, you will ask your car driver/ tour guide to stop at the coffee shop near Bang Lang bridge to visit the stork garden
The best time to arrive there around 4 PM- 5 PM, you will observe the sunset and hundreds of storks flying back to the garden. There are hudreds of black %26amp; white storks there.
You will leave Can Tho around 03 PM, you will pass Thot Not town ( my grandparents%26#39;s hometown) to arrive Bang Lang bridge where you pass the brige, turn on the left. Following small pretty country path to arrive the Stork Sanctuary where you will pay ticket to enter the garden. It costs about more or less than 5.000 VND for one ticket. You can reach there by honda om ( motorbike taxi ) , on foot or by boat from the bridge
If you would like to taste the stork meat, you are welcome there. The stork garden owner will cook for you with different styles . Of cousre you will pay for your bill

Dear Jason,
Thank you again for your valuable info. I think, from what you have told us, that the Mekong River - part of our one month Vietnam tour will be one of its highlights. Your expertise and passion is appreciated. Saija
Hi Jason!
I%26#39;m looking for a way to do the trip PP-Ho Chi Minh City. I would like to do PP-Chau Doc by boat (one that enables to have a nice view of the scenery), and then take a bus or car to Ho Chi Minh City.
But the thing is that I have to leave PP and arrive at Ho Chi Minh the same day. Do you think this is feasible? Any idea of costs (we are 3 budget travellers)?
Thanks!!
