Does one hagle for best price, or is it fixed price thanks

I would say haggle if you think the price is unreasonable.

We went to B%26#39;Lan at 23 Tran Phu on the recommendation of a few aussie expats. The prices were so good that I didn%26#39;t feel the need to haggle. For example - I had a 4 piece suit made - jacket, pants, skirt, vest - US$120. Even my custom tailor back here in Sydney said he couldn%26#39;t fault the work.

Hi again, we went to Yaly Tailors in Hoi An on our trip in Jan, all fixed price no matter how much you bought. They have a great selection of fabrics there and some nice clothes on display but if you are getting quite simple things made there are plenty of other tailors who will do as good a job for cheaper. Shop around.

To make sure that you make the right choice check this site.

hi,

I am suppose that is the best place in Hoi An for tailoring. they have many places in Hoi An but I like 47 Nguyen Thai Hoc very much. here you do not need deposite when you order and finally if that is not as you expect you can leave it there with no charge.

Hoi An with some hundred of tailor shops and shopping here is a challenge for you

happy shopping

I just left Hoi An today. I purchased several items at Yaly. I had to keep going back because they clothes were not acceptable, i.e. one sleeve would lay down perferctly but the other side wouldn%26#39;t. The lady kept pulling down on the material and saying ';see - it%26#39;s OK';. I told her NO. The pants ended up being smaller after the first fitting-don%26#39;t know why - I don%26#39;t think I gained 10 lbs in 4 hours.

They are the most expensive tailors in Hoi An - I expected better work. I purchased a stretchy long-sleeved blouse (polyester) and they charged $20. It was navy and you can%26#39;t find many nice navy colored items. I purchased a sleeveless long silk top that they prepared nicely (I guess they work best on silk). I purchased a pair of pants - docker type crop pants - nice material and they ended up fitting the hips very well. Anyway, 5 items cost me $100. I think this was a bit high for the items I bought considering the material - only one silk item and the rest cotton or polyester. I would shop around some before paying that much especially if you%26#39;re only going to have a blouse made. The suits I saw looked great and cost between $80 - $125 depending on the fabric. The men%26#39;s shirts were $10 - why so cheap when the women%26#39;s blouse is so much easier? Anyway, that%26#39;s my take - onward to Hue!

Hi,

I had a pair of cotton/linen blend trousers and a cotton short sleeve button up shirt made a Yaly in November. Cost $US30 for the pants and $US20 for the shirt. Fabric selections for the shirt was poor, bit better for the pants. For suits or silk they have a far larger range. They copied the clothes exactly from my own, I was very impressed. Although on closer inspection, the hem on the shirt is different lengths from one side to the other. Didn%26#39;t notice till I was home.

If I went again, I think I would either try elsewhere, or take my own cotton fabric for the shirt.

I tried to haggle for the price, but they weren%26#39;t budging.

Tracey.

I recommend TAN TAN TAILOR

They speak great english, the man that owes the shop is a proffessional - you can get great discounts even on the first shirt you buy ( even though they actually start at quite good prices) and especially for men, the fitting of suits is impecable!

there is already a massive thread about tailors going on at the moment......but for the sake of putting my 2 cents in!!!

Yaly is overpriced, yes they are popular, but you can get better work done by a smaller tailor for a fraction of the price. Keep in mind that they may need to rush your garments so they are ready, where as a smaller tailor may not have as much work on and can take their time somewhat.

Mind you alot of the tailors outsource their work to groups of sewing women, so really the stuff you order at Yaly may be made by the same girls that sew for a smaller less popular tailor.

I recommend Mr Xe (pronounced ';say';) He is eccentric, fun to deal with and pumps out some great stuff.

As I said in the other thread though, don%26#39;t expect Versace quality. These garments are made BY HAND on machines that are sometimes older than me. They will be quality, but some minor imperfections are to be expected. (eg my pockets, one is deeper than the other)

Whenever I go to the site
