HCMC-Siem Reap bus route to open Monday May 19th 2008

The Saigon Passenger Transport Company (Sapaco Tourist) will open a bus route between Ho Chi Minh City and Siem Reap Province in neighboring Cambodia next Monday, according to a company source.

The route will cross the border at Xa Mat in Vietnam鈥檚 southern Tay Ninh Province and Trapeang Phlong in Cambodia鈥檚 Kompong Cham Province.

At 500 kilometers in length, the route will reduce travel time by more than two hours, compared with the current route through border towns Moc Bai and Bavet.

The bus will depart at 7 a.m. at 309 Pham Ngu Lao Street in the city鈥檚 District 1 and arrive at the Sapaco office at #0667 National-No 6 Reap in Cambodia, with a one-way bus fare costing US$24 per passenger.

hey Jason, how long does the bus ride take?

i%26#39;ll be flying into HCM next saturday morning and i am planning a trip to Siem Reap after HCM... was actually considering a plane ride but this direct route sounds much cheaper!

If my memory is not wrong it takes more than 12 hours including time for visa procedures at Moc Bai - Bavet border line and waiting for bus from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. Last year I decided to fly back instead of going by bus.

ohh where do i purchase air tickets to siem reap in HCM? tour agencies or Vietnam airlines? i read on this forum that it is cheaper to buy tickets in HCM itself as opposed to booking them online..

Hi Jason My husband and I are looking to do this trip about 4th June. Do I have to make a booking before the day we want to go or do you just arrive before 7 am. Also is the bus a new bus with on board toilet facilities and any other information about this new service would be greatly appreciated. Tricia

boonrak, it%26#39;s very easy to buy a ticket to Siem Reap in HCMC, just call 08-8320320 to book, then go directly to Vietnamairlines office, 116 Nguyen Hue to pay and take your ticket or you can buy through VNA%26#39;s agencies, it%26#39;s no problem.

It takes only 8 hours to arrive Siem Riep from HCMC. It leaves HCMC at 07:00 AM , and arrive Siem Riep at 03:00 PM

If you don%26#39;t have visa to enter Cambodia, the Sapaco company will take care of your Cambodian visa. It costs 24 USD

You should book your tickets in advance and collect them one day before depature . You will go on June 04th 2008 so you will go to the company on June 03 2008 to collect your tickets
