Vietnam visa for US Citizens

Can anyone help me out? I%26#39;ve gone to the Vietnam embassy%26#39;s website and downloaded the instructions and application for a visa but it doesn%26#39;t say how much it costs. I tried to call there but just got voicemail.

Is there any other way to do this other than sending in your original passport? That%26#39;s kind of dicey.

I have done it through the embassy 8 times now with no problem. They are quite efficient and usually return your passport and visa in a few days. If you are uncomfortable with sending your passport, you can do a visa on arrival through many online agencies. They email you a letter after you have filled out the necessary form and paid the fee. You present this letter to the airline check-in agent to allow you to board the plane. Upon arrival in VN you go to the visa on arrival counter. Present your passport, the visa letter and 2 passport style photos and the fee which is $25 for a single entry. It%26#39;s a simple process but if you arrive at a busy time you may end up waiting in a very long line.

By the way the price for the visa through the embassy is $65 for a 30 day single entry.

We ordered our visas via the Postal Service with prepaid return envelope and had no problems. We%26#39;ve also done the same in the past for Chinese and Indian visas with no problems.

If you live in Los Angeles, travel agency will do the visa for you for 30 bucks. All you need is to give the the color scan of your passport. Go to Westminster in orange county.

Which travel agency is this? I would like to contact them.

Also, I%26#39;ve been seeing emails in cruise critic that a visa isn%26#39;t even necessary and that some cruise lines arrange it so passengers don%26#39;t need them, but our cruise line (Holland America) says that we do need them.

Go to any travel agency especially one thta specialize in asian. Cost should be $5 or $10 plus application cost and should take about 2 weeks.

That is interesting because the prices I%26#39;ve been quoted are significantly more than that. Plus the fees for FedEx and return FedEx because the passport has to be sent so it can%26#39;t be by regular mail.

Where are you in LA? Are you close to El Monte, or Monterey Park? Stop by any Vietnamese travel agency.

Has anyone used the online agency to do the Visa-on-Arrival? Like the one described by ';bonketoo'; Is it safe to do? I鈥檓 not going to be stranded in the airport, without being able to visit Vietnam? Can some one recommend the agency that they used?
