It%26#39;ll be nice if it works.

Crack down on airport scamming taxis

Wonder how long that will last? When we arrive in Saigon, we come outside then go back up in the lift to the departures and grab a Mai Linh taxi. Think I picked that little clue up from Plover??? A friend who came back yesterday said that there are taxis of all varieties available at the far end of the terminal but I%26#39;ve never noticed - too stressed trying to avoid these ';touts';. Thanks for the link!

I do that too or stroll down to domestic departures where it%26#39;s all a bit less frenetic and you can have your pick of the taxis.

The airport management make you change your trolley over half way across now to stop them all disappearing from international I expect.

I flew back into Saigon last week and, whilst there was still no dedicated taxi rank with an organised queuing system (as in Hanoi), I didn%26#39;t get any hassle from the usual touts who haunt the arrivals forecourt and intimidate new arrivals. A good start but still some way to go!

I arrived in Saigon last Tuesday night and am now in Hoi An. The taxi situation at the airport was really OK. We had a pre-arranged pick up but there was a counter indoors where you could easily purchase a pre-paid ticket and the taxi drivers outside were really no pushier than any other tout we%26#39;ve come across.

Ultimately, if you pay $6 for the trip or $10 or even $15 it isn%26#39;t really a huge amount considering the traffic the drivers get you through. Compared to taxi costs in western cities it is still a pittance.

Same as Tim, I didn%26#39;t have a problem with taxi touts last week at the airport in HCMC.

They had a queue for taxi on the left of International Arrival with a signage of about 8 taxi companies having fare structure printed on a board. Passengers could select which taxi company to go with. I chose Vinataxi (yellow) as it was nearest to me.
